30% of animals in shelters are there because their owners abandoned them. Other animals have been lost, abused, or otherwise neglected. Without shelters and rescues, many of which are operated by volunteers and run on a donations-only basis, so many animals would suffer and often die, without ever knowing what a happy home feels like.
Even though our pets may only be with us for part of our lives, we are their entire life. We are the only life they know. Pets who end up in shelters have their worlds turned upside down. Shelters and rescues do the absolute best they can, but still, life in a shelter can be unfamiliar, crowded, and loud. It is often depressing and stressful for the animals, and shelter workers have so many animals to care for. All pets are good pets, and the people working and volunteering in shelters and rescues show them that humans are good too!
With over 14,000 rescues and shelters in the US caring for the more than 6.5 million animals in the system each year, funding can be a challenge. While government funding covers a portion of some budgets, these non-profits rely largely on donations and volunteers. As much as we believe in pets, we also believe in people. We support those who rescue and shelter animals and create opportunities for others to help how they can. We want shelters to be able to have the funding they need for supplies including food, toys, treats, blankets, medications, staff, and anything else they are lacking.
The money raised by Shelter Helpers goes towards supporting the boots-on-the-ground workers. The front-line volunteers and employees in shelters and rescues who are doing incredible work. We are honored to be able to help all they do. Our donations go towards what is most needed at a particular non-profit.
With every purchase of a Shelter Helpers product, you are supporting animals in need and the shelters and rescues who support them. Shelters and rescues need our community. Thank you for your help!
